How to Walk Slowly
Commencing on the Winter Solstice — 21 December 2025 — The Silent Academy will begin sharing materials and assets in celebration of a durational work titled How to Walk Slowly.
How to Walk Slowly brings together a number of artists, each working independently or in collaboration, to create a series of modules designed to help audiences walk slowly — and to disrupt habitual thinking.
The schedule for How to Walk Slowly is intentionally undefined. Each piece will emerge in response to synchronistic events and intuitive impulses. The work will arise from many places, none of them over-thought, all united by a single intention: to illustrate how to walk slowly.
When the time is right, all works produced throughout the project will be gathered and presented in a physical location or locations. A book written by Andrew Shaw, documenting the process will be published.
In the meantime, with each new module, The Silent Academy will release accompanying study materials — all freely available through The Silent Academy newsletter and website. To receive updates - SUBSCRIBE HERE
The first step - How to Walk Slowly: module 001 will be made by Philip Newcombe and Rebecca Stenfors.
