Mike Taylor - ‘Waiting - Images 001-003’

The Silent Academy will soon release a sequence of prints from photographer Mike Taylor.

In Waiting… Images 001-003 -  Mike shares a sequence of moments that capture field recording equipment aimed at empty skies. The equipment, placed in apparently remote, lonesome locations, (a rock pool, a beach, the edge of a tree line) is awaiting the arrival of birds or something which remain undocumented in these images.

The sense of beauty, absence, solitude and reflection is strong. The symmetry of the images suggests scientific precision and well-informed decisions, when in fact all we can do is wait for the nature of things beyond our control.

Each print is accompanied by a password-protected digital link to an online archive which houses audio recordings; the absence of birds captured by the field equipment.
